Writer, honorary citizen of St. Petersburg Daniil Granin died at the 99th year of life, reported “Interfax” a source in medical circles of the city.
According to the source, Granin last few days were in the intensive care unit of one of the city hospitals. Shortly before his death, he was connected to the ventilator.
“Daniil died in the night of Wednesday,” – said the Agency interlocutor.

Granin went through the Great Patriotic war and began his literary activity in the postwar years. His most famous novels are “Going to storm”, “My Lieutenant” and “the Namesake” and the novel “the bison.” In addition, in collaboration with Ales Adamovich Granin has created a documentary chronicle of the siege of Leningrad “Blockade book”.
