The Russian Embassy in the United States for the first time in many years received a congratulatory message from the US authorities on the Day of Russia.
The Russian Embassy in the U.S. confirmed to RIA Novosti that for the first time in many years that they had not received congratulations from the US authorities on the Day of Russia.
“We can confirm that from the American side is not received the Day of Russia. Is the first time in our memory. Draw your own conclusions,” said the Embassy spokesman Nikolai Lahonin.
Earlier, two of RIA Novosti source in diplomatic circles said that for the first time in 25 years the Russian Embassy in the United States had not received congratulations from the American side on the Day of Russia.
Relations between Russia and the West deteriorated over the situation in the Donbass, where Kiev in April 2014 began a military operation against the breakaway LC and the DNI, which declared independence after a coup in Ukraine. The US and EU have imposed a series of sanctions against Russia, Moscow has retaliated. Later the conflict with Washington were strained over accusations that Russia allegedly interfered in U.S. elections and supported presidential candidate Donald trump.
