In Russia, prison officials tortured a prisoner to death.
Seven employees of a colony in Elista, Russia, was sentenced to terms of imprisonment from 1 to 11 years. They tortured to death a prisoner Dmitry batyreva.
The biggest time – for 11 years – got the duty assistant head of the colony Kazbek Israilov and the detective Tseren of Nasonov. They were convicted of intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm that caused the victim’s death by negligence. They were also charged with abuse of office.

Lawyer Andrei Sabinin, representing the sisters of the deceased prisoner, promised to appeal the verdict.
“The verdict is surprising, because the Prosecutor asked for much more severe terms for the defendants (70 years for all the defendants). In fact, the judge reduced the sentence to two or three times for some employees,” said Andrey Sabinin.
