In the Network appeared the second trailer for the acclaimed historical drama “Matilda,” directed by Alexei Uchitel. The plot revolves around a historical romance — the relationship of the ballerina Matilda Kschessinska, Tsarevich Nicholas Alexandrovich, future Russian Emperor Nicholas II.
The painting was marked by a whole constellation of Russian actors: Danila Kozlovsky in the role of count Vorontsov, Ingeborga Dapkunaite, Sergey Garmash, Yevgeny Mironov, Grigory Dobrygin. The role of Kschessinska performed by young Polish actress Mikhalina ol’shanskaya, and Nicholas was played by German actor Lars Eidinger.
Long before the premiere, the film became a reason for heated public debate. The Deputy of the state Duma Natalia Polonskaya and several public activists have accused the picture of the distortion of historical facts. The number of Orthodox social movements spoke about the fact that the film should be banned because of the plot, discrediting the image of Nicholas II, which is known to be canonized.
In February, the Director and producer Alexey Uchitel appealed to the Prosecutor General of RF with a complaint against Poklonsky, and asked to check the organizations, unmotivated haunting film on extremism. The leading cinematographers of Russia Pavel Lungin Vitaly Mansky, Andrey Smirnov and others — wrote a letter in support of the film, which strongly condemned the persecution and censorship faced picture.
The film by Alexei Uchitel will be released in autumn this year.
