The vehicle can travel on-road as a regular bus, but only when there are special markings on the pavement. Modular ART as a train car can be attached or detached depending on the number of passengers. Each car holds about 100 people.
Such vehicles can move without driver, however, at the time of testing for security purposes people also directs the movement of ART. This “trambus” moves along a pair of lines drawn on the pavement, and has a number of sensors to avoid interference.
