The defense Ministry of Belarus refutes claims that the exercises “West-2017” involved 100 thousand military.
The Ministry of defence of Belarus called false information about 100 thousands of soldiers involved in the joint Belarusian-Russian exercises “West-2017”.
“This figure is 100 thousand is absolutely untrue,” – said the head of information Department – press Secretary of the main Directorate of ideological work of the Ministry of defense of Belarus Vladimir Makarov to journalists on Saturday in Minsk, responding to a question.
As said Vladimir Makarov, the defense Ministry of Belarus and Russia has repeatedly and through various channels informed the parties concerned about the number of soldiers involved in the exercises.
In particular, he recalled, the total number participating in the exercise, about 12.7 thousand, while in the territory of Belarus in the exercise involved about 10 thousand people.
The strategic doctrine “the West-2017” takes place September 14-20.
