These images shocked, surprised, touched – but I did not leave anyone indifferent.
In recent years, the Eurovision song contest was not only a vocal competition, but also a real fashion show.
Participants are struggling to conquer the audience spectacular outfits. Remember how it changed fashion for the competition.
For the first time the best European performer was chosen in 1956. Then the winner was the Swiss Liz Assia with a lyrical song “Refrain”. It was a feminine dress that reflected the fashion of the time: the puffy skirt and tight top, not without the help of a corset which is showing the same wasp waist as Lyudmila Gurchenko.
Debut contest set the tone for the outfits until the mid 60’s. Performers dressed as a Hollywood movie star. The men were held in high esteem tuxedos, bow ties – all copied the polished appearance of Frank Sinatra. Contestants one looked like Audrey Hepburn. But over time, the glamor of Hollywood gave way to bright concert costumes. One of the most illustrative examples of outfit women from Spain Fat (Salomé) who won the contest in 1969. She had on a light blue dress made of fringe. Singer podtantsovyvat to the beat of rhythmic songs and the dress easily swayed like the wind.
In 1974, the legendary Swedish group ABBA won the contest in bright corduroy suits and high shiny boots, which were allocated to four compared to other participants, making them look like guests from the future.
Curiously, shiny jackets, which became popular in the era of disco, the Eurovision song contest was delayed for a long time. The photo presentation of the Norwegian Duo Bobbysocks in 1985 (the girls then won the contest). Yes, you read that right: like cardigans are in the closet of Philip Kirkorov and Beyonce.
The photograph below shows the Irish band Jedward. Guys in 2011 tried to surprise not only vocals, but also shiny outfits. Style for a couple of decades has undergone significant changes, but it’s all the same jackets, embroidered with sequins.
Really hit the outfits were already in the new Millennium. In 2003, the representative of Turkey Sertab Erene, which won the competition, appeared on stage in a modernized version of the costume dancer belly. Turk danced to the song, which in that year was dancing the whole of Europe. In 2009, she Sertab Khadija spoke in a similar suit, though he was hardly a revelation. It is the representatives of Turkey had managed most successfully to use national dress in the competition. Bright outfits will harmonize with the rooms and brought singers with good results.
In 2009, when design concert costumes rather tired, particularly distinguished in Germany. Alex Christensen appeared on stage with the famous dancer Dita von Teese, which was released in a very revealing black corset with a whip in his hand. Needless to say, Alex song, few people listened.
In 2010, a musician from Azerbaijan, Safura, was struck by a high-tech dress that has built in LEDs. The outfit literally glowed during the performance, and could also change the shade.
In the same year the representative of Malta, Thea Garrett, played in bright satin dress. The outfit would have gone unnoticed if not for one detail – in the end, the singer behind unfolded huge wings. The effect was achieved not at the expense of 3D, and thanks to the dancer, who stood behind the singer.
A similar technique was used by the members of the band “3+2”, which in 2010 was represented at the contest, Belarus. In the final part of the song, the girls revealed in their dresses designs in the polished wings of butterflies.
Amid dresses, embroidered with crystals Swarovski, in 2004 the leather suit surprised Ruslana, who took the prize in Ukraine. Two years later a crusade against glamour made freaks-the winners of the group “Lordi”.
Well, the most brilliant member in the entire history of “Eurovision” can easily recognize the Verka Serduchka in the hat star. Then the representative of Ukraine took the second place.
