“It was a lot of talk about the new administration, but more talk about Ukraine, because that is one and second – and President Obama and Vice President Biden is very well aware of what Ukraine”, – said the Ukrainian politician after meeting with the heads of the previous US administration.

He stressed that both the American leader called the Ukrainian success is important not only for Ukraine but for the whole world.

“They believe that Ukraine is fighting for its independence, and Ukraine has prevailed is the success of the entire free world. Therefore, their appeal first and foremost to us, to Ukrainians – that we have no right to go out this way. Too much depends on Ukraine for the whole world”, – said Yatsenyuk.

“We need help, we ourselves are difficult. We have proved that we can fight. But the struggle against heavily armed Russian aggression needs support from the EU and the Americans,” – said the former head of the Ukrainian government.

He expressed hope that the new US administration will decide positively the issue of supply of lethal weapons to the Ukrainian army.

“If this decision is made, it will be a clear response to the fact that Ukraine remains a priority, Ukraine is important for Europe and for the United States, that we protect their independence and at the same time we protect the borders of member countries of the European Union and the countries-members of NATO. This is a political decision, which must now be considered the new administration”, he said.

In this Yatsenyuk said that the results of meetings in the U.S. Congress can confirm that there is support on this issue.

“But the final decision is always made by the Executive branch, namely the Oval office (office of the US President in the White house – ed.)”, – said Yatsenyuk.
