They have to survive every day.
Low salaries, expensive products, “nothing to wear” and so forth all the problems of modern man, but there are other countries where they live so poor people that they do not care about how they look and in what slum living. Poverty robs these people life and chance at happiness. They have nothing to eat, no one wants to be treated and they die from severe epidemic diseases. Their children have nowhere to learn, and if some more or less clever man and will teach poor kids, then this knowledge will not be enough to stand out in a society that does not accept beggars.
