Recently Director Nikolai Arcel gave resource IGN interview about, of course, the upcoming premiere of “the Dark tower”, the long-awaited and long-suffering adaptation of a literary cycle Seya illustrious king.
However, to call the upcoming movie adaptation is not entirely correct. During the conversation Arsel confirmed that “the Dark tower” is rather a “continuation of the Canon”, given in the novels of the King of Terrors. It is also known that the author himself took some part in the work on this new story.
Here’s what the Director says about it:
At some point he said, “I Have notes on the script.” And he sent us a printed copy of script with handwritten notes. He was very polite and very respectful. It was something like: “Maybe Roland will not be so much to say about this place…” He looked like a kind of guardian for their characters.
And this is understandable. King, of course, known loyalty to the adaptations and reinterpretation of his works, but “the Dark tower” — still special. The cycle brings together the work of the King, is his rod, a kind of magnum opus of the writer. In short, it has long been clear that the film will not be like our favorite books, but still great that the author has not left his creation to the full mercy of the writers, making any edits myself.
In addition, it is known that the king had already seen “the Dark tower” and “the Game Gerald”, “1922”, the new “It” and the pilot episode of “Haze”, for example — in short, almost everything recorded in his works and waiting out on big and small screens in the near future. Fortunately, the year of the film adaptation of king’s very fruitful. However, on the “TB” writer then did not say anything specific, and his attitude towards the film until the last moment remained secret. Fortunately, Nikolai Arcel lifted the veil:
After he first saw the film, king wrote to me: “It’s not really my affair, but that the spirit and tone. And I’m very happy”.
Well, if the king’s happy, then I, as a fan of king, happy for him.
