The vast majority of Ukrainians believes that the occupied territory of Donetsk and Lugansk regions should be a part of Ukraine on the same terms.
This was at a Round table “the return of the occupied territories of Donbass. Ukrainian plan”, conducted by the publication DT.UA, said Director of the Fund “Democratic Netiv” Irina Bekeshkina.
According to the data, in General, the population does not support the granting of autonomy or special status of these areas. 25% said that Donbass should go back under the control of Ukraine ,but with greater powers. 7% voted for the secession of territories from Ukraine, another 2% for their joining the Federation.
“I think that especially in this region, as well as peculiarities of the relationship of citizens to the solution of problems of Donbass, must be factored into a comprehensive strategy and develop tactics for the return of those territories. Real, not formal return to the Ukrainian space. And, of course, implementation of this strategy involves a lot of explanatory work. If the goal is reintegration not only of territories but of people”, – said the sociologist.
