At the University of Texas, has reproduced the voice of the Tyrannosaurus rex.
Scientists have named the dinosaur voice most terrible sound ever heard.
Reconstruction of the growl of a Tyrannosaurus Rex based on the sounds of birds and alligators. These animals are the closest relatives of dinosaurs. Birds supposedly evolved from a group of carnivorous bipedal dinosaurs (theropods), called deinonychosauria. Crocodiles and alligators, and dinosaurs are archosaurs, a large group of reptiles, divided into two large clades — pseudosuchia and ornithosuchus.
Researchers used the voice of the great bittern (Botaurus stellaris) and the sounds of Chinese alligators. When the researchers made allowances for the size of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, reconstructed on the computer reminded growl a low rumble that heralded the approach of a predatory dinosaur in “Jurassic Park”.
According to paleontologists, T. Rex is unlikely roared like modern predatory animals, however, the ominous sounds he could make, not opening mouth. This low-frequency “growl” could be heard from a great distance, which is necessary for communication with other tyrannosaurs.
