Media holdings RBC and “national media group” was in the list of the companies in respect of which Ukraine has imposed sanctions.

Sanctions against media companies mean “restriction or discontinuance of telecommunications services and use of telecommunication networks of General use” and “temporary restriction of a person’s right to use and dispose of her property and stop the execution of economic and financial obligations”, to the document.

In October 2015, NMG, together with Discovery Communications established the company “Media Alliance”, which manages 11 television channels of Discovery Networks in Russia.
