“The Commission on citizenship issues under the President of Ukraine decided to support a petition for termination of citizenship of Ukraine, Mikheil Saakashvili, and encouraged the President to take a decision”, – explained in Department.

The press service also said that the head of state signed the corresponding decree on the basis of these recommendations.

Later at the State migration service informed that the corresponding decree is already signed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

As noted in the Department, it was made “on the basis of false data stated in the questionnaire”.

In particular, in the documents that Saakashvili filled out before the receipt of the Ukrainian citizenship, he indicated that he is not under investigation in Ukraine or abroad, at that time, on the territory of Georgia, the former President was arrested in absentia.
