On Venus there may be some elements of tectonic activity.
French and American scientists have shown that the modern lithosphere of Venus crack and reminds of the ancient earth’s crust. A study published in the journal Nature Geoscience.
Experts in the laboratory have reproduced the conditions which, according to them, characteristic of the subsurface of Venus. In particular, scientists in the colloidal solution of nanoparticles have created analogues of mantle plumes — rising from the core to the crust flow of hot mantle, which on the inner side of the planet thinner lithosphere.
Laboratory studies have shown that in some places the mantle can break the surface of the planet, and its spreading across the cortex could trigger subduction — dip one portion of the lithosphere below the other.
Laboratory data scientists confirmed the observations of Venus, in particular, the existence of rows Kettlebell and Artemis, which probably resulted from the activity of mantle plumes.
Research shows that Venus can have some elements of tectonic activity, in particular, subduction of fragments of the planet crust. Experts believe that at present, the lithosphere is the second planet from the Sun planet system is reminiscent of the ancient earth’s crust. The study of the processes occurring on Venus, will allow scientists to understand the mechanisms by which appeared on Earth tectonic activity.
