Mode spoilers: On. Usually we avoid them so as not to spoil the impression from watching the movie to those who haven’t seen it yet, but at this time, make an exception to the rule, for shark mocumentary “Over depth: a Chronicle of survival” (Cage Dive, for American distribution renamed – how and why, read here in Open Water 3) this “worthy”. Since the most obvious (but not only) minus the picture – it’s the idiocy of its characters, to reveal the details just need to ensure that you could appreciate the extent of this collective idiocy.
Moreover, it cannot be said that the creators of the film treated his work carelessly. Gerald Fascinato (Director and writer) and the company made all efforts in order to achieve success, but lack of skill led to the failure.
Three moron! (actually, no)
Story vividly echoes the plot of another recent movie about unsuccessful ended the dive in a cage in water with sharks. In the shark thread at all difficult to do anything new, but the same “Blue abyss” showed that it is not always necessary. And earlier – the original Open Water (open water), which refer viewers to the American distributors. Endless ocean, a few people and eating them sharks – that in itself is so scary that you will not find it. You can not surprise, the main thing – just don’t screw anything up, keep the tension, to cause sympathy, compassion for the characters. Just this task Fascinato and failed miserably.
What do we have? A trio of American tourists two brothers and a girlfriend of one of them – who decide “extremeline” rest in Australia. Along the way, they are not averse to make a video diary of the event, to participate in the contest and maybe win a substantial amount. All fine and dandy, but one of the guys with heart problems. And the second brother. brother, Carl. – sleeping with his girlfriend. As for the girl hang noodles on the ears of both of them.
Who then are we supposed to empathize with? Fool-cuckold, applying for a Darwin award? His brother a traitor? The girl is the slut?.. But more was to follow.
The episode, which stinks of plagiarism (Hello, “Blair Witch”!)
During the dive, a giant wave (where it came from? no one thought to clarify that point) covers the ship, the cage falling apart (why would it?.. Oh well), and all sides of a love triangle find themselves in shark-infested water. Shark almost immediately in front of our “heroes” eat up a couple svershilsya ship in water of extras. After this begins the “Chronicles of survival”.
It comes down in a senseless multichannel in the water, the mutual assurances that “all is well”, interspersed panic tantrums and arguments about whether to sail or not to sail to one of the “heroes” in the direction of a loitering close to the subject (although it is unclear what prevents to take the three of us, fortunately, the trio quickly managed to get hold of life jackets). Sharks, taken before all in a row, “heroes” for a long time, ignore (and I know this shit even is not desirable) so that we have time to fully enjoy the “craftsmanship” of the operator of the video we watch, allegedly shoots one of the Trinity, but the lens does not get a single drop, and sometimes the camera obviously takes some camera angles that would generally have to sink under the water… hell, even the camera is not shaking much.
Been up in the water until night, at some point, the “heroes” find the piano in the bushes. In the sense of them coming in a container with a rescue boat, food, drinking water and medicines. Instead of having to climb into the boat (next to the same kind of like sharks patrolling, no?) our idiots for ten-fifteen minutes happily yelling to each other about what they just escaped and that all is well – so that even inadvertently ushers got to the cinema becomes clear that nothing good these cretins ahead not waiting.
Trololo-shark. And you thought-you save!
What happens next is the apotheosis of idiocy. If you thought that teenagers from slasher stupid if you thought that scientists-the astronauts of the “Live” acting like fools… well, you just keep in mind that in comparison with the “heroes” of the film “Over depth: Chronicles of survival” the same guys from “Alive” are brilliant.
The trio climbs into the boat. Eats, drinks, sleeps. Finds several signal pieces, one of which immediately uses. On the horizon, really don’t see either lethal or swimming devices, but why not spend a sword if you really want? Later, when you will fly past the helicopter, the idiots, of course, sword is not used, “because it’s too far.”
Guys pick up another survivor girl… And then fight and accidentally set FIRE to his boat! So much so that they saved the girl burn to death, the boat burns down, and our glorious trio is again in the water.
Rate the intensity of idiocy. Morons managed to eat, drink, heal wounds, sleep. Picked up one more person. That is, it’s not about tired, terrified people in a stressful situation. Suicide was on fire making three adults that are in a clear mind, refreshed and recharged. Perfectly understand that this boat is their only chance at salvation.
And because you can not be surprised that in a time when “heroes” manage to blow this chance, they don’t come up with anything better than to start a showdown with the tantrums and screaming “how could you? I to marry her I wanted” etc.. And the hysteria continues and after – finally! – killed the girl.
According to the creators, we had to worry about “heroes”, but those are such bastards and idiots that we necessarily “get sick” for sharks. Surprisingly, in this film, ocean cannibals behave more naturally and intelligently than the so-called “Homo sapiens”.
