It is necessary to start serious negotiations on the implementation of the Minsk agreements, and if this is not possible, the sanctions against the Russian Federation should gradually increase, said assistant Secretary of state for European and Eurasian Affairs in 2013-2017 years, Victoria Nuland.
“I think we need to start serious negotiations on the implementation of the Minsk agreements. And if this is not possible, our sanctions against Russia should gradually increase. You need to set the period of six months, to Russia and sat down at the negotiating table, and then the sanctions should begin to increase. If Russia will continue to evade negotiations, the sanctions should continue to increase,” she said.
Nuland said that the United States must be a direct party to these negotiations.
“So I hope we will be invited to become a party to this process, if and when the US will return to consider Ukraine as an important key to the future of democracy. I hope that this will happen after our election in November”, — said Nuland.
