The President wants to better understand at what stage is the settlement of the Ukrainian issue.
The President of France Emmanuel macron meet in Normandy format (France, Germany, Ukraine, Russia) before the G20 summit, which is scheduled for July 7-8 in Hamburg.
“We will conduct a pre-G20 meeting in this format,” he said in an interview with the newspaper Figaro and several other European publications.
Macron also said that talks with colleagues in the Normandy format will allow him to better understand at what stage is the settlement of the Ukrainian issue.
“As regards the Ukrainian issue, I will give you a clear answer after my first negotiations in the Normandy format. But for sure, it is our duty to protect Europe and its allies in the region (in Eastern Europe – ed.). On this issue we must not retreat from its positions,” he said.
As reported Корреспондент.net at the end of the G7 summit in Italy Emmanuel macron called as soon as possible to convene a meeting “Norman Quartet.” The French leader called for talks with the Kremlin “without any concessions”.
Recall that Ukraine did not think that the change of the Minsk and Normandy formats of negotiations on settling the situation in Donbas. This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a briefing in Washington following his visit to the USA.
