With this development Facebook intends to compete with the voice assistants of rivals: Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa.
Social network Facebook is working on creating their voice assistant.
Developer Blake Tsuzaki found the voice search feature in the code, the September version of the mobile application Facebook.
“It doesn’t work right now. The assistant listens and then gives an error, but I’m looking for a way to get him to do a little more,” he told the publication.
According to currently known information, the assistant will be able to provide answers to basic questions, for example, the result of sports games.
Facebook the company noted that the voice assistant is not active function or user testing and declined to comment.
Meanwhile, sources said that in Facebook there is a separate team which is engaged in the development assistant. According to them, the Facebook helper is designed to control the future of video chat company for home codenamed Aloha.
The debut of Aloha is scheduled for may 2018. He will compete with Amazon Echo Show $229, which was released in June.
