Sad news this morning in new York on 73-m to year of life died a famous film Director Jonathan Demme. Among his significant works there is a poignant drama of “Philadelphia” and Thriller “the Manchurian candidate”, but the main achievement of the Director is cult movie “silence of the lambs” based on the novel by Thomas Harris about Hannibal Lecter.
“Silence of the lambs” received 5 Oscar statuettes (best picture, best actor (Anthony Hopkins), best actress (jodie foster), best Director (Jonathan Demme), best adapted screenplay) and made the main characters real superstars of Hollywood. Smart, sharp, psychologically precise and intense, the film still falls into the list of “best thrillers in film history”.
The cause of death Demme was stomach cancer and complications of heart disease.
