The elections envisaged by the Minsk agreements.
The German government supports the position that, Kiev will resume control over the Ukrainian-Russian border in the Donbas on the day after the local elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
This was stated by Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Ukraine Ernst Reichel.
He declined to discuss the previously made assumption that the elections at the Donbass can be held in the presence of the Russian army, however, the Ambassador noted that the provisions of the set of measures on implementing the Minsk agreements stipulates the process of restoring Ukraine’s control over its state border, which should begin the next day after the local elections.
“This is not the document which I developed. It is agreed by all those parties that signed,” – said the diplomat.
He also added that the German government supports his position. “I have confirmed from Berlin that I have the full support of my government about what I said”, he said.
