Warsaw has no plans to renew the contract for Russian gas supplies
Poland has called on Croatia to build a gas terminal in the Adriatic, which could provide that part of Europe with gas from other countries in the world, said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Poland Witold Waszczykowski.
Warsaw has no plans to renew the contract for the supply of Russian gas, which ends in 2022. About this on air of Polish radio said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Poland Witold Waszczykowski.
“We want to complete in 2022, the Russian contract. Moreover, we encourage other States, such as Croatia, to also build a gas terminal in the Adriatic, which could provide that part of Europe with gas from other countries”, – he said.
Waszczykowski said that Warsaw already has a technical cooperation programme with the United States on the gas issue.
6 July 2017, the US President, Donald trump declared that the contract for delivery from USA to Poland liquefied natural gas can be concluded very quickly. June 8 in Poland for the first time in history came a tanker with liquefied gas from the USA.
In August, Waszczykowski said that in five years time Poland will be at least less dependent on Russian gas. “And perhaps, altogether independent of it: a third of our needs, we are able to cover its own production, the second third we expect to get through the LNG terminal, the remaining pipeline from Norway. We are ready, however, to continue buying gas from Russia, but at a competitive price,” – said Waszczykowski.
