The city received the award in the amount of 1 million euros.
The European Commission has awarded the city the title of “European capital of innovation” (iCapital), and a prize of 1 million euros.
This is stated in the message on the website of the EC.
The iCapital award granted under the research and innovation EU programme “Horizon 2020”, which was given to Paris for his inclusive innovation strategy.
Among the contenders for the title were also Tallinn (Estonia) and tel Aviv (Israel), were both awarded the prize in 100 thousand euros. Prize money will be used to further expand the innovative efforts of cities.
Over the past decade, Paris has built more than 100,000 square meters of scientific incubators, and now has the world’s largest campus for startups.
In addition, the city spends 5% of its budget to projects that propose and implement the citizens.
