In Russia allowed the sole function of the UN mission in the East of Ukraine − ensuring the safety of OSCE representatives.
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said after talks with U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson, that the offer of Moscow’s peacekeepers in the Donbas applies only to the protection of the OSCE mission and only in the framework of the Minsk agreements.
“Our proposal is very clear: peacekeepers are only to protect the special monitoring mission of the OSCE and only if the observer functions arising from the Minsk agreements. Any other purpose of the peacekeeping mission will mean the crossing of these agreements, this, in fact, the Ukrainian side, in my opinion, and committed,” − said Lavrov.
He noted that the Russian draft resolution on peacekeepers in the Donbass remains in the form in which it was after the conversation of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The Russian foreign Minister said that work on the draft resolution is not stopped, and Moscow is waiting for proposals from other countries.
