The law will come into force tomorrow.
The edition “Voice of Ukraine” published the law “On Amnesty” in 2016. It will come into force on 7 September 2017.
Document Amnesty persons:
convicted for committing intentional minor and not particularly serious crimes;
those convicted of minor crimes due to negligence;
a minor at the time of the crime;
pregnant women;
parents of minor children or disabled children (if these convicts are not deprived of parental rights);
persons with disabilities;
the convicts, who at the moment have reached retirement age;
war veterans;
participants of liquidation of Chernobyl accident;
children of parents older than 70 or parents-invalids;
the convicted participants of the ATO.
According to the law, if the convicted person is serving a sentence for minor offense, he can exempt from punishment, if he has served less than half his sentence.
Convicted of the above categories, if they do not fall within the scope of the above rules, will reduce the remaining life in half.
“The decision on application or non-application of Amnesty is accepted by court concerning each person individually after careful check of materials of personal records and information on the behaviour of the convict during the serving of punishment”, – reads the text of the law.
