The Japanese automaker plans to launch a range of electric vehicles which can drive 240 miles in a single 15-minute charge. Most electric cars need at least twice as long to provide 80% charge, even with a high speed charger.
The key to this plan is the development of a new type of high performance battery able to provide ultra-fast recharging.
Now Honda Motor gets batteries for electric gas hybrid cars from HP and other vendors, but is planning to create my own new battery in cooperation with a partner who will be chosen later. Body lighter wheel and better power management system will provide a new car the ability to drive long distances on a single charge.
