Editor in chief of Vogue magazine Anna Wintour recognized by Forbes magazine as the most influential woman in the entertainment industry and mass media.
Anna Wintour leads the American edition of Vogue since 1988 and is the art Director of the publishing company Conde Nast. In 2008, she became a knight of the Order of the British Empire.
Analyst of trends in mass media Alice Enders explains the choice Wintour as the most powerful woman in the list: “Why Anna Wintour is number one? It’s very simple: Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook and Susan Voitsitsky from Google are not included in the list. Because under the “media” they (Forbes) understand print media and the performing arts. They deliberately separated the advertising geniuses of Facebook and Google, despite the fact that these two companies are now giants of the advertising industry”.
But despite their absence, Anna Wintour had to press other influential names in the industry, such as Bonnie hammer (in second place), which is headed by the American broadcasting company NBCUniversal.
“Anna Wintour – the most powerful woman in the printing press, simply because Vogue is the pinnacle of taste and fashion women, – says Enders. She is the epitome of commercial fashion world on both sides of the Atlantic. Anna Wintour is the continent that has given new momentum to the British and American fashion houses”.
In the list of 15 most influential women in the industry also singer Beyonce and Taylor swift, the author JK Rowling and the head of the Russian news channel RT Margarita Simonyan.
Forbes is an annual list, considering the income of each person, the number of mentions of this name in the media and reputation in General.
