The warship will be adopted by the PRC in 2020.
In China launched a second aircraft carrier of the Navy of the people’s liberation army. The ceremony was held in the port of Dalian.
The ship was built according to the project 001A. It will be adopted in 2020, after conducting sea trials.
As you know, now in service, China is one aircraft carrier – the Liaoning. It was completed on the basis of the former Soviet heavy aircraft carrier Varyag, purchased from Ukraine in the late 1990-ies.
The project 001A built on the principle of Liaoning, but it has several large and a number of modifications. Both ships equipped with launch ramps with angle of separation, respectively, at 14 and 12 degrees.
In addition, China is building a third aircraft carrier of large size (type 002), which is a completely new project.
