Guides in Lapland called the police after they were surrounded by angry Chinese tourists who did not see the Northern lights.
The incident occurred near Rovaniemi. According to the channel, a group of Chinese tourists upset about the fact that are unable to see the Northern lights. Angry travellers were surrounded by Finnish guides, who then called the police.
“The guides were scared and could not physically get out of the environment of angry Chinese tourists. I’ve never experienced anything like this,” the channel quoted the spokesman of the police Department of Lapland Jenny Kelloniemi.
The police explained to the tourists that the tour guides could not affect the existence of the Northern lights. This is a unique natural phenomenon, and to see it, we need suitable weather conditions.
The representative of the police Department said that the travel Agency had to inform travelers that the Northern lights may not appear.
Tours for the Northern lights are very popular. Organize them in the Northern regions of Finland, Sweden and Norway.
In 2014, Norwegian cruise operator Hurtigruten, which also organizes tours to the Northern lights, they promised to send free of British tourists on a journey for the next year, as they did not see a natural phenomenon.
