Walker made an alarming statement about the proposal to Putin on Donbas

Volker has called the threat of Putin’s conditions for the peacekeepers.

The US special envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker believes that the proposal of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the introduction of peacekeepers in Donbass to further divide Ukraine, but will not solve the conflict.

“It was very interesting last week to see how Russia proposes UN peacekeeping mission, something that Russia has previously stated that will not support something that was proposed after consultations in the Normandy format with the US and others. The details of what was proposed, I think, actually further divide Ukraine, but does not solve the problem,” he said at the Yes conference.

While Walker added that the fact that proposals on the introduction of peacekeepers is interesting and should be explored.

“If we can come to the discussion of an international force to provide security, which will replace the Russian forces will conduct monitoring of heavy weapons and to control the border – it would be a significant step forward, the basis for the implementation of the Minsk agreements and restoring territorial integrity,” said Walker.

He also said that following his meeting with adviser to Putin on Ukraine Vladislav Surkov will take place in October.
