According to the Ministry of agrarian policy and food, on 11 may the EU Council will consider increasing the quota for the export of certain goods to Ukraine. This item is included in the agenda of the meeting of the EU Council on foreign Affairs in the section “Trading”.
“Recall that in early may the European Parliament Committee on international trade voted in favor of expanding duty-free quotas for Ukraine. At the same time, the Committee of the European Parliament did not support the extension of trade preferences for certain categories of agricultural products, processed tomatoes and wheat. In this direction Ukraine continues to increase the quotas for these items and hopes for a positive decision of the European Parliament”, – stated in the message of the Ministry.
Ukrainian producers have already fully chose quotas for deliveries in the EU of honey, sugar, cereals and flour, processed tomatoes grape and Apple juice, corn, poultry and butter.
According to the agreement between Ukraine and the EU on deep and comprehensive free trade area, which entered into force on 1 January 2016, quotas are imposed on the supply in the EU 36 product groups. Anything over the set limit, subject to duties.
