Uber has contracted with NASA to create flying taxi

NASA will have to solve the problem of tracking and controlling an aircraft.

Taxi service Uber has signed a contract with NASA, which the space Agency will develop software to control a flying taxi. This was announced on Wednesday, November 8, at the presentation of the Uber Elevate in Lisbon.

Under the contract, NASA will have to solve the problem of tracking and control of hundreds or thousands of aircrafts in city airspace. The taxi routes will have to be routed so that they do not interfere with airport operations and existing dispatch systems.

Uber noted that they will not independently engage in the manufacture of aircraft, but instead will provide them with infrastructure. Among the potential partners of the company are listed, Boeing, Embraer, Mooney and Bell Helicopter.
