The U.S. Navy has tested hypersonic weapons in the framework of the instantaneous (or fast) global strike PGS (Prompt Global Strike).
Tests were conducted in late October. The product was launched from the Pacific missile range for the U.S. Navy, located on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. During the tests data was collected at hypersonic planning and the possibilities of flight at long range. Details of the tests the military are not reported.
Hypersonic weapons — equipment (military aircraft, drones and missiles) capable of a significant part of the trajectory to move at speeds more than five Mach numbers (more than six thousand kilometers per hour), therefore they are extremely difficult to eliminate modern air and missile defense systems.
In the U.S. development of hypersonic weapons is largely implemented in the framework of the PGS, whose main goal — a guaranteed shot at any point of the planet within an hour. Work on a hypersonic weapon being also in Russia and China.
