The Cabinet intends to announce a competition of 4G licenses

The starting price of licenses for 4G in Ukraine is estimated at 6.3 billion UAH.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said that the Cabinet intends on meeting on Tuesday to approve the tender for the purchase of licenses for frequencies of the fourth generation mobile (cell) radio 4G.

“Now is the stage of forming the new 4G network and I said that it is important for us to sell these frequencies were competitive, fair and open,” he said during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Tuesday in Kiev, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.

V. Hroisman stressed that, in this area it is important to avoid corruption and the shadow arrangements.

“Today we will take a decision on a transparent and fair preparation of the licensing of frequencies 4G”, – said the Prime Minister.

He recalled that the draft decision had been discussed in the relevant Committee of Parliament.

The starting price of licenses for the launch in Ukraine of 4G is estimated at 6.3 billion. The sale is planned through an open tender.

This was stated by the head of the national Commission, carrying out state regulation in the sphere of communications and Informatization (NCCIR), Alexander Zhivotovsky.

“The budget from the sale of licenses must obtain a significant amount. The initial value of the licenses that we offer to approve of the government, will amount to 6.3 billion UAH”, – said Zhivotovsky.

He also said that the cost of licenses to run communications for 4G in the 2600 MHz band will amount to 2.3 billion, in the range of 1800 MHz is 4 billion hryvnias.

“The sale of licenses should be implemented at a reasonable price. And the only way to justify the price to conduct the sale through an open tender,” – said the head of NCCIR.

“This sale should encourage further investment in Ukraine, and the operators who will buy a license for 4G, needs to continue to invest in the development of infrastructure,” he added.
