Scientists: Impotence says about future heart disease

Erectile dysfunction are a indicator of blood flow disorders, the study showed.

For many men, impotence is the reason for very strong emotions, because this disorder deprives them of one of the main pleasures in life. A new study found that men who are faced with erectile dysfunction, you need to worry not only about the intimate side of life. It cannot be excluded that they are dealing with an early sign of heart disease. These are the results of a meta-analysis of 26 studies that proved the existence of a link between impotence and disorders of the cardiovascular system.

This relationship is explained by the fact that with erectile dysfunction with heart disease in humans, disturbances of blood flow. In addition, there is a strong link between impotence and poor function of the endothelium, causing blood vessels lose their normal ability to expand and pass the blood through the body. Endothelial dysfunction is considered a warning symptom of atherosclerosis, where the arteries accumulate plaque, which increases the likelihood of heart attacks and strokes. Moreover, researchers from Baptist Health South Florida in the US found that erectile dysfunction is associated with increased thickness of the intima–media complex of the carotid arteries. This pathology occurs when plaque accumulates on the walls of the arteries that supply blood to the brain.

The connection between erectile dysfunction and heart disease remains constant regardless of age, as the study showed. The results are especially important for young men who are often faced with erectile dysfunction, but remain confident that because of the age of heart disease they are not threatened.
