Riots in Pakistan: many wounded

The unrest began after police tried to prevent protests by radical Islamists

According to Agency sources in medical institutions, as a result of collisions of police with representatives of a local radical Islamist movements have suffered more than hundred persons, at least 65 of them – law enforcement.

The protesters claim that the victims of the riots were four men, but police did not confirm these data.

Clashes between police and Islamists occurred after the latter had set up a tent camp on one of the highways in Islamabad. Law enforcement officers demanded that the camp, but the protesters refused to obey, which led to violent clashes.

According to media reports, in addition to Islamabad, riots swept several major cities of Pakistan.
