Lavrov commented on the new US sanctions against Russia

The head of the Russian foreign Ministry commented on the policy of sanctions in relations with the West

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov believes that sanctions against Russia “senseless struggle on the world stage”. He stated this at a press conference.

“We did not start absolutely pointless struggle in the international arena, we did not start meaningless sanctions spiral. Hope that will cool down the “hot heads” still, reason would prevail,” – said Lavrov. We will remind, earlier Russia has promised retaliatory measures on extension of U.S. sanctions.

“Do not lose hope that the voice of reason sooner or later will prevail and our American colleagues are aware of the futility and destructiveness of further unwinding of sanctions spiral. Meanwhile start to work inevitable in this situation, the response,” – reads the statement of the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov, published on the Russian MFA website.
