In Russia want to block the popular social network

Russia can block Facebook, according to the law “On personal data”.

Roscomnadzor is ready to block Facebook in 2018, if the company does not transfer all personal data of Russian users on Russian territory ..

This was stated by the head of Department Alexander Zharov.

“The law is mandatory for all. In any case we will either reach that the act was done or the company ceases to operate on the territory of the Russian Federation, as, unfortunately, happened with Linkedin. There’s no exceptions,” said the official.

While Zharov added that in 2017 Facebook will not be checked for compliance with the law, and next year “we’ll maybe find out.” He recalled that Twitter has already agreed to move data to the middle of 2018. The company itself has not confirmed this.

From September 2015 the Russian law obliges all companies to store data of Russian users in Russia. The penalty for violation of this law is possible only after check of Roskomnadzor. Concerning Google, Twitter and Facebook these checks have not yet been. In 2016, a year after the law came into force in Russia was blocked by the social network for professional contacts Linkedin. Network negotiations with the Russian authorities to restore access to anything did not lead.

As you know, in 2015 the law “On personal data” of the Russian Federation demands from the Russian or foreign companies to provide recording, systematization, accumulation, storage, specification of personal data of Russian citizens using databases located on the territory of the Russian Federation.
