The Prosecutor’s office asked to consent to the arrest of the Deputy Borislav Rosenblatt, as he, according to investigators, may exert pressure on judges as well as hiding from the investigation abroad. This was announced at the meeting of the procedural Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, the Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko.
According to investigators, Rosenblatt used his position and influence to obtain bribes. The money was supposed to go to the courts to cancel the licenses of competing companies.
“We justify the necessity of arrest and the fact that Rosenblatt has an impact not only on MPs but also for judges,” he said.
Lutsenko also drew attention to the fact that the family of Rosenblatt owns a number of companies abroad, and the prosecution fears that he might abscond from the investigation outside of Ukraine. Lutsenko, referring to Rosenblatt, advised him to voluntarily resign as MP.
In turn, Rosenblatt called the materials of NABOO “brutal provocation.”
“I never committed the alleged crimes I never colluded with the Deputy Maxim Polyakova, demanded and received illegal benefit”, – he said.
