Doctors from Singapore have linked the consumption of red meat with an increased risk of developing kidney failure, whereas the use in food of other protein sources useful. A study published in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.
Scientists for 15.5 years tracked the health of more than 63 thousand Chinese adults living in Singapore. These people, according to experts, intensively eat red meat, of which 97 per cent pork. Other protein sources were chicken, fish, eggs, dairy products and legumes.
A high proportion of red meat in the diet of people (from 25 percent, the most abused product) by 40 percent increases the risk of chronic kidney disease, compared to those who use it in the diet is not as significant (25 percent, using the product).
Poultry, fish, eggs and dairy products do not adversely impact on the state of the kidneys, while the consumption of legumes was not significantly improved their protective function. Doctors recommend that, in case of need, go to other sources of protein other than meat.
