The countries participating in the Eastern partnership, including Ukraine, need to understand that in the short term, they cannot count on EU membership. This statement was made by EU Ambassador to Ukraine Hug Mingareli.
“The EU now has the opportunity to offer a perspective of any partner country. Maybe in a few years, but not now,” said the Ambassador.
However Mingarelli noted that despite this, the implementation of the Association Agreement is an important challenge for Ukraine.
“We all know this (the lack of willingness of the EU to the debate on the prospect — ed.), reality bites! And now we, the European Union, you must convince partners to continue to implement the Association Agreement with this understanding,” said the Ambassador.
