Scientists spoke about the positive effects of stress on memory

Research is ongoing

A lot of stress can cause serious mental disorders, simultaneously imprints and those events that are not related to a traumatic situation. This discovery may help in the understanding of the mechanisms of post-traumatic stress disorder, and memory in General.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (for brevity, commonly abbreviated PTSD) is actively being studied by doctors and scientists. Psychiatrists are interested in the potential methods of dealing with PTSD, and neuroscientists, in addition to the desire to help doctors, attracted by the opportunity to understand exactly how memory works.

After all, the whole picture of how the brain assimilates new information and is appealing to her after some time, yet. It is known that the nerve impulses start in the neurons of several biochemical processes (many of which have been studied), it is known that these processes lead to changes in gene activity that after some time the memory of the short-term becomes long-term, and to the originally activated cells, new ones are added— but to say exactly where the memory is stored and how it is coded certain events, until nobody can.

Understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of memory will allow to solve many problems. PTSD is only one of the most obvious examples, but there are others: for example, it is now reliably established that training starts the process of neurogenesis, the emergence of new nerve cells. If you find out how to manage this process, you can rely on the recovery of damaged by trauma or stroke parts of the brain, and the disclosure of the secret growth of nerve fibers rather put on your feet after spinal cord injuries.

But to find out what happens in the brain when confronted with something new, not so easy. In humans there are about a hundred billion nerve cells, but, besides them, in the brain there are also glial tissue, neurons, providing power and performing the functions of the immune system. To understand what is changing in these cells even in the simplest case, it is very difficult— and therefore perhaps the bulk of research in the field of neurobiology of memory is not on the person.
