Russian families increased weekly costs

The amount of the daily cost of a typical Russian family from 23 to 29 September continued to rise and reached 422 in 4 thousand roubles, it follows from the monitoring of “romira”.

However, say the experts of the holding, during this period the average household spent on consumer goods is only 0.1% higher than a week earlier.

However, it adds “ROMIR”, “if we compare the current value of weekly expenses to average over the past year, spending 39 weeks was higher by 1%”.

Recall that, according to preliminary estimates of Rosstat, the average monthly accrued wages of employees of organizations in Russia increased in August 2019 7.4% yoy, reaching 45 thousand 100 rubles, and year-to-August — 7.3% (46 of 120 thousand rubles). While real wages (adjusted for inflation) rose in August by 3% in annual terms, as in July (revised from plus 3.5% estimate). Meanwhile, in comparison with the previous month accrued salaries declined in August by 3% and real by 2.8%.

Previously, experts of “Levada center” found that in the view of Russians, the family is living in poverty, if income per family member below the level of 12.5 thousand rubles. Such a “mental border” poverty is 11.6% above the specified authorities the poverty line — the subsistence minimum, which in the II quarter of 2019 amounted to 11.2 thousand rubles.

According to the survey “Levada-center”, 40% of respondents have monthly income below the subjective poverty frontiers, that is less than 12.5 thousand rubles a month.

At the same time, the survey, to maintain a normal level of life of Russian family needs approximately 38,1 thousand rubles per person.

As suggested by a senior researcher in the Institute for social analysis Ranepa Dmitry Loginov, when establishing the subsistence level, that is official the poverty line, the government focus on the possibility of budgets of various levels and tend to calculate this figure with the reduction factor.

We add that, according to Rosstat, the number of Russians, whose incomes are below the subsistence minimum (poverty level), in the II quarter of 2019 amounted to 18.6 million people (i.e. 12.7 per cent of the total population). In 2018, in the second quarter, below the poverty line lived to 12.5% of the population. In annual terms, the level of poverty in Russia increased by 0.2 percentage points.

As explained in Department, this is due to the fact that the subsistence minimum in the II quarter of 2019 has increased over the same period last year by 7.1% and amounted to 11 thousand 185 rubles. Inflation in annual terms amounted to 5%, and growth in per capita money incomes of population is 5.6%.

In late August the Ministry of economic development (MED) of the Russian Federation updated macroeconomic forecast for 2020 and, in particular, expects a decline in the rate of growth of real incomes of Russians to almost zero.

As for the current year, the Ministry forecasts growth in real disposable incomes of Russians only 0.1% compared with the previous estimate of 1%. However, the anticipated level of poverty by the end of 2020 increased to 12.5% (previously 12% by the end of 2019).
