President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that he had discussed with U.S. Secretary of defense James Mattis strengthening the international presence in the Donbas.
The head of Ukrainian state said this at a briefing after the meeting.
“Mr Minister exchanged views on the strengthening of the international presence in the Donbas. We are talking about the possible deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission with the mandate of the UN Security Council in the occupied areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. We emphasize that such an international presence would help create the proper security conditions to move the political track of the peace process,” he said.
