Named a previously unknown property of coffee

We all know that fatty fast foods are harmful to health.

But if after eating burgers and fries you drink coffee, the negative effect is even more enhanced, canadian scientists believe.

Even in a healthy person the blood sugar level jumps dramatically after he was treated fatty foods, and if he washed down his lunch, coffee, sugar levels increased twice: about the indicators of level of sugar in the blood can be observed in people with an increased risk of developing diabetes.

The results of the study suggest that saturated fats prevent the body to normally absorb glucose from the blood, and drinks with caffeine even more worsen this effect. If a person has a sugar level in the blood rises too often, it begins to affect the whole organism – the scientists explain.

Experiments have shown that fatty lunch increases the level of sugar in the blood of a healthy person by 32%. The volunteers for five hours after a fatty meal drank two cups of coffee, this figure increased to 65%. This means that fatty food affects the body within a few hours.

We believe that fat and caffeine disrupt the communication between the stomach and the pancreas, and therefore the blood sugar level after a meal is reduced much slower than necessary – the scientists explain. The results of their work will be particularly useful for people with an increased risk of developing diabetes, which is strongly recommended to reduce the consumption of coffee, fatty meat, products from processed meat and unhealthy fast food.
