Mike Flanagan talks about working on “Gerald’s Game”

Among the many works of Stephen king “Gerald’s Game” is one of the most difficult to adapt to. “We haven’t set a release date, but I’m already looking forward to show the “Gerald Game” people. I’m nineteen years wanted to do this picture, and that, you know, half the developers. And Yes, you are right, long time I thought that a book cannot be adapted. Have no idea if I’ll be proud of any of his films like this. All my previous works are largely created for this moment”.

“We always kept in touch. King was from the outset involved in the project and frequently intervened, especially when the question concerned the casting, validation of any edits and the like. After he saw the film, we still communicated with each other. Words can not convey how excited I was when he reacted so violently at the picture. Probably, it howled with a significant “fan” moment in my life. As a longtime fan of his work, I know how it feels to see yet another film adaptation turns out to be a dud. I decided from the very beginning – the film must be worthy of his amazing novel. To adapt king is a complex and delicate work, and we’ve all seen what happens when it is done correctly. As a devoted reader, I didn’t want to “Gerald’s Game” appeared in the list of failures. I wish the author liked the movie, and was excited when it happened”.
