Lithuania commented on the situation around citizenship Saakashvili

Representatives of Lithuania did not remain on the sidelines in this complex issue.

Ukraine must grant the right to defend his citizenship in court for deprivation of citizenship ex-head of Odessa regional state administration to Mikheil Saakashvili.

This was stated by the head of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius.

“Saakashvili should be given the opportunity to defend their rights in a transparent trial,” said Linkevičius.

He noted that the now former President of Georgia was in a “very delicate situation” from the point of view of international law.

Linkevičius said that Lithuania continues to be a partner of Ukraine, but expects that the country will not be limited to the rights of the opposition. In particular, in Lithuania believe that Ukraine needs to connect opposition forces to the fight against corruption.
