Lenovo massively firing employees

Chinese PC giant Lenovo has announced the reduction of approximately 2% of its staff.

Layoffs will affect, including the North American headquarters of Lenovo in Morrisville, North Carolina.

Given that there are about 52 thousand employees in 160 countries, Lenovo will be fired a little more than 1,000 people, mainly in the USA and China, reports The Register, citing a statement by the vendor.

In a press release, Lenovo said that the company is on the right path to profit growth, and that the measures intended to increase its competitiveness and profitability. Employees notified in advance and provided the opportunity to transfer to another job within the company.

“We will continue to invest in our growth drivers, including mobile business unit for the production of equipment for datacenters and not hardware-related areas in the field of artificial intelligence and Big Data,” – said the press-Secretary of the Lenovo.

“The company will continue to make adjustments in all spheres of its business, in an ongoing effort to optimize costs, increase efficiency and improve financial performance as a whole,” warned Lenovo.
