Jo nesbø is torn on the big screens

Norwegian writer Jo nesbø has long gained popularity outside Scandinavia. His books go like hot cakes all over the world, translated into dozens of languages, and the author gets a lot of literary awards. A logical consequence of all this was the emergence of blockbuster adaptations, but from time to time on this front has been relatively quiet. Short, discreet projects in the homeland, adapting children’s books about Dr. Proctor. Perhaps the most famous film on the works of the big cities today is crime Thriller Morten Tyldum “headhunters”(Hodejegerne, 2011). But everything will change soon.

The airport made a name for himself in detective thrillers, especially a series about the adventures of Harry Hole, a tough COP with his own demons. This year on the big screens will be released film adaptation of one of the best novels of a series called “the Snowman” (The Snowman). Production deals with Britain, in the Director’s chair another talented Scandinavian – Swede Tomas Alfredson, who gave us “Let me in”. The detective released the first on the trail of a serial killer from Norway, played by Michael Fassbender. In the caste involved Rebecca Ferguson (Live), Val Kilmer (“the Ghost and the Darkness”), John.To. Simmons (“Whiplash”) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (“Antichrist”). Looks very impressive and the author is a serious step forward. But his successes do not end there.

Last week came news of two new adaptations. Balthasar Baltasar kormákur (“Everest”) will put the film “I am Victor” in the novel, which is only forthcoming. This is a story about the narcissistic divorce lawyer, not burdened by moral principles. On the hero fall suspicion in several murders and to clear his own name, he is forced to look for the criminal yourself. The second project looks even more interesting – not least because that will be the directorial debut of Toby Maguire, the spider-Man trilogy Sam Raimi. We are talking about the film adaptation of the novel “Blood on snow”, which opens another cycle in the works of the big cities. In Russian book was published in 2015, almost simultaneously with the publication in the original language. The official abstract reads as follows:

I’m a murderer. Kill people to order. You can say, no matter what else I do not fit. However I have one problem: I can’t hurt the woman. It’s probably because of mom. And I fall in love too easily. Anyway, another order puts me in an impossible position. But I still find a way…

Thanks to Stig Larsson and “the Girl with the dragon tattoo,” we know what can be Scandinavian thrillers, as well as their Hollywood reinvention. Will see if we can pass the same path Jo nesbø, who is considered even more talented than his Swedish neighbour.
