The police will be fined up to three thousand euros.
The resort of Palma on the island of Majorca prohibited to drink alcohol in some popular areas and beaches – Dresses-de Palma and the four Central areas of Palma, in an effort to solve the problem with drunken tourists.
The police can issue fines up to three thousand Euro, as of 1 April.
The island is visited by thousands of tourists in nightspots. The municipality imposes such rules to deal with drunken tourists and antisocial behavior.
The police will also fine bars, clubs and restaurants that violate the rules. They should not promote the consumption of alcohol on the street.
Last year has increased the number of incidents where drunken tourists have fallen from balconies. In eight cases they were fatal. Last summer Palma has imposed a ban on the rental apartments homeowners without the permission of the Ministry of tourism of the Balearic Islands.
